What Pop Music Does

I took this quote from the anime called "Beck". I'll write a review on the anime soon enough. But there's a good quote in the anime where they talk about pop music.

"My sister believes that music could change the hearts of people all around the world. Pop music, that just makes you feel good. Such escape-from-reality music that tells you 'Everything's okay' paralyzes people's senses, and steals their desire to think about the various issues surrounding life."

The minute I read that quote, it felt like they took a piece of me and put it in this anime.

I believe that music has the power to change the world. It can tell stories, it can convey emotions, it can change history. I mean why do atheltes listen to high energy music before playing a game. Or how come we play "we are the champions" when someone wins a game. Ballet is not really Ballet w/o the music. Symphonies were made to escape from reality. A simple jingle for a product can be stuck in your head.

It's because music is that powerful.
